EVS (Enhanced Vision Systems)
Skyquest provide a range of cockpit displays for use with the Maz-Viz enhanced vision system. Displays range in size from our tiny 4" dzus mounted unit through to 20" displays for airborne military operations. We also supply a small compact flash video recorder to enable images to be recorded for post flight analysis and training.

About Max-Viz enhanced vision system (evs) for aircraft:

For Helicopters
EVS is a valuable flight tool that helps pilots see better and that improves their margins of safety.

The Max-Viz EVS-1000 is particularly well-suited for helicopters, enabling pilots to see terrain and other potential obstacles through dust, rain, snow, haze, smoke and total darkness. Using a patented combination of infrared sensors and signal processing, this enhanced vision system relays real-time video images from a small 2.5-lb. sensor head mounted on the helicopter nose, belly or landing skids to the cockpit on any video-capable head-down display (HDD).

Because the EVS-1000 does not use bulky mechanical cryogenics to cool the infrared sensors, the patented uncooled system is the smallest, lightest, most reliable and affordable system available today. It’s truly revolutionary and available for operation:

  • Heavy-lift operations: increases efficiencies in operations such as logging and construction
  • EMS:improves safety and efficiency when lives are on the line
  • Search and rescue: enhances operational readiness and helps identify subjects
  • Firefighting: has demonstrated performance in smoke
  • Executive/VIP transport: helps important passengers arrive on time with greater safety assurance
  • Offshore: improves safety of servicing offshore rigs

For Business Jets
Using advanced infrared technology—housed in the world’s smallest, lightest format—pilots can now navigate more safely in total darkness and during unexpected periods of inclement weather, environments that previously created challenging flying conditions and delayed or cancelled flights.

Max-Viz systems use “uncooled” infrared sensors to gather data about runways, terrain and any potential obstacles on the ground or in flight. These images are enhanced, relayed and displayed on any head-down video-capable cockpit and/or raster-capable head-up display.

In rain, snow, haze, smoke and nighttime flying, Max-Viz greatly improves pilot’s situational awareness at all times to minimize major aviation concerns.

  • Helps avoid CFIT—terrain imaging in darkness and degraded visibility
  • Detects runway incursions early—vehicles and other aircraft
  • Increases on-time reliability—safely transport VIP passengers with time-sensitive schedules
  • Reduces animal incursions—early detection gives pilots time to safely react
Improves safety in-flight and on the ground—enhances visibility of buildings, trees, light standards, baggage carts and jetways
  • Offers potential lower landing minima—in conjunction with HUD

For Military Aircraft
For years, military operations have used infrared (IR) technology to enhance mission effectiveness and pilot performance. In fact, key members of the Max-Viz team have been involved in the application of military infrared technology to perfect EVS, working on NASA, the Air Force and DARPA programs beginning in the 1980s.

Today, Max-Viz offers a new generation of Enhanced Visions Systems (EVS) that enables pilots to fly with greater confidence and safety under the most challenging visual conditions. EVS brings enhanced capability to all flights and missions, and it provides an easy upgrade to existing military fleets.

Using a proprietary combination of “uncooled” infrared sensors, signal processing and cockpit display monitors, Max-Viz EVS augments the flight crew’s view of unfamiliar terrain, runways, other aircraft, and potential obstacles that might otherwise be obscured.

Because Max-Viz does not rely on the bulky, mechanical cryogenic cooling system of first-generation EVS, it offers the world’s smallest, lightest system—one that is far more reliable and cost-effective than any other EVS on the market today.

  • Meets military requirements for “operational readiness”
  • Assists with “All-weather” operations
  • Improves landing at degraded facilities rough runways, poor locations, austere military airfields
  • Helps with targeting infrared imaging to support search and rescue, combat operations and target damage assessment
  • Augments nighttime aerial refueling can be performed without lights in combat situations
  • Boosts reconnaissance aircraft performance wide field of view offers greater mission support
